History of Spring Hill

The first settlers of the area now known as Spring Hill arrived in 1808. The city itself wasn’t actually established until a year later. As with most areas surrounding Nashville, Spring Hill was also the location of a major Civil War battle, the Battle of Spring Hill. For many years, the battle here was believed to have been a small skirmish, but details have recently emerged that prove more than 10,000 Confederate and Union soldiers were involved.

Demographics

With around 31,000 residents, Spring Hill has experience rapid growth since the year 2000. In 14 years, the population has grown by nearly 23,000. Many residents are affluent, with the median household income equaling around $60,000. Those who live here often commute to Nashville, but there are several large companies nearby that also provide employment.

Schools

The main schools for Spring Hill are Spring Hill High School, Spring Hill Middle School, and Spring Hill Elementary School. Columbia Academy in Maury County is another popular choice. County schools for Williamson County, which also serve the students of Spring Hill, include Allendale Elementary, Heritage Elementary, Bethesda Elementary, Longview Elementary, Hillsboro Elementary, Heritage Middle School, Spring Station Middle School, Summit High School, and Independence High School. Spring Hill Academy is another private school for students in the area.
